Visit Mineola, Texas

The railroads arrived in the area and in 1873 Mineola was incorporated. Visit downtown and experience the more than forty historic markers that tell the story of the events that shaped the town.

Bonnie & Clyde

The infamous Bonnie and Clyde – born in 1910 and 1909 respectively – passed through several towns in Texas , including Mineola, while on a killing and burglary spree in the early 1930s. Although they did not rob the Mineola bank like it was depicted in the film, it is believed that they considered it.

Historic Downtown District

The beautifully restored 1900's district has been recognized for its efforts and is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. Stroll the red brick streets and enjoy:

Museums

The Main Street District hosts two museums:

  • Mineola Historical Museum – located in the old post office

  • Transportation Museum – located in the 1906 rail depot
    The depot is still a working station for Amtrak's Texas Eagle passenger train that stops twice daily.

 

Farmers' Market

  • Saturdays, April through October, provides local, homegrown produce as well as crafted items, artisan baked goods, flowers and more.
